SEO for electricians: win today’s breakdown and tomorrow’s project

An electrician gets chosen on two fronts: the breakdown, where the customer calls the first credible number in Google Maps, and the project (renovation, fuse box, EV charger), where they compare websites before asking for a quote. Of the 72 electricians’ sites analysed in Paris and Toulouse, 7% have at least one issue that blocks their visibility.

How customers search for an electrician

“Électricien” (electrician) is typed 60,500 times a month in France. With a city, demand spreads thin: 2,400 searches for “électricien toulouse”, 590 for “électricien paris”, 590 for “électricien bordeaux”. Most of it goes through the word alone, typed on a phone, which Google completes with the person’s location: the nearest, most complete Google Maps listing picks up the call.

An ad click costs €5.00 on average for “électricien”, up to €5.74 for “électricien marseille”. Variants remain marginal (90 searches for “électricien près de moi”): customers do not specify, they trust Google to find someone near them.

The mistakes that cost electricians customers

A website that does not tell Google “electrician”

44% of electricians’ sites have no usable page title and 43% have no main heading that names the trade. Electricians fail about as often as the average of all trades on this point. A company name alone says neither the trade, nor the city, nor the service.

A customer with a breakdown cannot call in one tap

25% of the sites analysed have no tappable phone number on the home page: they fail this less often than the study average. A power cut gets sorted from a phone: a number to copy out is a call that goes to the next electrician.

Qualifications nobody sees

36% of the sites have fewer than 400 words on the home page: they fail this about as often as the average. No room to explain what you really do, or to show a qualification you hold. And 53% do not describe the business in structured data: Google and AI assistants have to guess your area and your services.

Priority actions

  1. Complete the Google Business Profile

Primary category “Electrician”, services listed one by one (emergency repairs, safety upgrades, fuse boxes, EV chargers if you install them), service area, real call-out hours.
  2. Open two doors on the website

An emergency page (tappable number, lead time, area covered) and a renovation page (steps, examples of jobs, quote form).
  3. Show your qualifications, if you have them

In France, Qualifelec, IRVE for EV chargers or others: exact name, scope, and a link to the body where it can be checked. Never a logo you do not hold.
  4. Ask for a review after every job

By text message with the profile link, inviting the customer to say what was done. A review that mentions a replaced fuse box or an installed charger informs the next customer.
  5. Describe the business in structured data

Electrician type, address, area, opening hours and phone, identical to the Google Business Profile.

Frequently asked questions

Should I show my certifications on my website?

Yes, if you really hold them: on the page of the service concerned, with the exact name of the qualification and a way to check it. A customer hesitating between two quotes looks at these details. A logo displayed without the right to it exposes you far more than it helps.

Emergency repairs and renovation: one website or two?

One website, two entrances. The customer with a breakdown wants a number and a lead time; the customer with a project wants past work and a form. Mixing them on a single page weakens both.

Do lead platforms replace a website?

They send requests for as long as you pay, and they send them to your competitors too. A well-worked Google Business Profile and website bring direct calls, which remain yours.

Method

Google Maps results (up to 100 listings) for the trade’s search query, centred on the city, collected via OpenSEO on 18/10/2026. Free website analysis (lib/audit.js): home page, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, llms.txt. No paid tools. Listings without a website, platform pages (Doctolib, Planity, Facebook, Instagram, Google Sites…) and network pages appearing 3 times or more: counted in the listings, not in the sites analysed. The score out of 100 is the tool’s own, which also counts server response time (4 points out of 100). Server response times are not published: they were measured from outside France and do not reflect what a visitor in France sees. No business name or website address is published: only aggregated statistics.

Search volumes: Average monthly search volumes on Google, France, French language, Google Ads data via OpenSEO (DataForSEO). CPC = estimated average cost of an ad click, in euros.

The data covers businesses in France (websites and Google Maps listings in French cities), and searches and volumes are from Google France.
